We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the DDB Externship Funding! Applications will be accepted until Friday, June 7, 2024.

What is an externship? Externships are typically informative career explorations that can include job shadowing or other informal explorations of a career. DDB Trainees are encouraged to explore externships in various related careers, including, but not limited to, clinical research, non-profits, government and policy work, and industry.

We encourage trainees to pursue an externship so as to experience a range of scientific research careers that extend beyond the traditional academy. The externships will provide trainees with more direct interactions with outside stakeholders and with knowledge of diverse research settings, such as NGOs, national labs, or other academic/industry centers that align with DDB themes of stem cells, gene editing, imaging and machine learning.

In order to make the externship more feasible, the DDB will fund travel for domestic internships. The externship must occur within 6 months of the application deadline.
