Sam Rosen

Sam is interested in understanding how cells compute external signals to enter various transcriptional states. He is particularly interested in how signal intensity impacts transcriptional level. By working in the Wilson Lab, Sam has access to optogenetic tools which allow him to control cellular signaling with high temporal and spatial resolution via light activation. With this high level of control, Sam will develop programs to give real time measurements of cellular states while providing feedback. With this, he will use feedback control and machine learning methods to provide various amounts of light to cells in low transcriptional states, allowing us to resolve the issue of cell heterogeneity.
